Spring Benefit Show 2015 Comes to Providence Hill Farm

Wonderful horses like Cody Pony, activities for kids, a luncheon and a splendid Hunter Derby are all part of the 2015 Spring Benefit Show at Providence Hill Farm.

“It’s really a fun event for the whole family,” says Tina Davey, coach of the Mississippi College equestrian team, one of the finest in the South.

Proceeds from the events April 25-26 will benefit the MC team that recently wrapped up its eighth season.

The weekend horse show, luncheon and other activities at the beautiful 2,000-acre farm will be open to the public.

Among the events that shouldn’t be missed: the 2 p.m. Hunter Derby that Saturday afternoon. The derby simulates jumping in an open field like fox hunting.

There will be a luncheon at the farm just prior to the derby. Riders from MC’s equestrian team and others from the greater Jackson area will display their talents and showcase their horses.

Mississippi College’s team once again featured a super lineup again this season. One of its riders, Erica Reynolds, fared well in regional and zone competition in Georgia. Erica will be headed to national championship competition in a few weeks in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Davey is thankful to MC’s strong team of sponsors helping drive the team’s success. The group includes: Land Rover of Jackson, Fresh Cut Catering, Edge Theory, Outback Steakhouse, Providence Hill Farm, Griffith Media and So Southern.

Kids making the trip to Providence Hill Farm won’t be bored. There will be arts & crafts, face painting and much more for boys and girls.

“The Spring Benefit Show is always a wonderful event,” says Jim Turcotte, vice president for enrollment services and dean of students. The Clinton resident oversees MC’s equestrian, bass fishing, clay shooting and archery teams.

Mississippi College, Turcotte said, is truly fortunate to have a terrific equestrian team, and an excellent leader in coach Tina Davey.

Luncheon tickets are $15 for students, faculty and staff, and $25 for other guests.
